The Genitan Project
York-based artist Jane Kennelly was commissioned in March 2004 to create a plant-based watercolour and ink motif. Jane chose the gentian herb for her work, which flourishes both in the Alps, and upland areas of Britain and Ireland.
In collaboration with our web design team member, Kati Lazar (Vienna/London), the picture was animated to
suggest growth from the roots, as a visual metaphor both for research and the process of building this resource. The image has been archived here as a record of the project.
